Today on Neurodiversity News, we have spoken with Margaux Wosk, who is known for an excellent YouTube channel. They also have a blog, Etsy shop, and art, which has been their current focus for the time being. This is what they had to say.

Neurodiversity News: Tell me about yourself and what you do.

Margaux Wosk: My name is Margaux and I am a nonbinary person who lives in British Columbia, Canada. I run NavigatingJourney.com, an Etsy shop, and my YouTube channel.

I create artwork and occasionally blog about autism-related things and reviews. I have slowed down a bit on the autism side of things to focus more on my designs and expanding my Etsy shop.

NN: How’s your YouTube channel been going?

MW: I don’t really update my channel all that often. My video about being against the puzzle piece really yields some questionable responses.

Some folks fail to read all the sources I’ve cited, which usually would clarify a lot of things for them. I think it’s so important to make sure you cite your sources in videos like that. I have called out other autistic content creators for failing to do this.

NN: What do you think is the most important video you’ve done?

MW: Probably the one I spoke about in the last question because it’s yielded the most results and conversation. I had to speak out against Stephanie Bethany not only for her homophobia, but her poor judgement for mixing her Christian beliefs with her autism advocacy. As far as I know, she built up her fanbase on the backs of Christian fundamentalists & then started talking about autism while essentially slandering the LGBTQ community because it didn’t align with her biblical beliefs. This is so wrong because of the overlap.

NN: Could you tell me a little about your encounter with Autism Speaks Canada?

MW: I basically had an issue with them where they decided to post an article I had been interviewed for (where I specifically SPOKE OUT AGAINST THEM) on their Facebook page. Well, hilarity ensued, and I actually called them, recorded the call and posted it on my YouTube channel.

I also, will occasionally report blue puzzle piece usage that isn’t tied to them because they are VERY PROTECTIVE of it, so in a roundabout way it ensures that less people are using the blue puzzle piece.

NN: Who are your greatest inspirations?

MW: My mom is my greatest and only inspiration. She is a multi-talented, incredible individual who blows me away with her talent. She has always been my #1 and I treasure her dearly. She’s mlc.art.vancouver on Instagram.

NN: What do you hope to achieve in the future?

MW: I would like to expand my Retrophiliac Etsy store; I want to create a whole line of merchandise and eventually be able to create custom pieces of clothing. I have a very large vision for this. I have no intention of stopping. I want to do more charitable pieces of artwork and hopefully create things with accessibility in mind. I think about this in everything I do.
